The Rev. Franklin Graham Says President Obama was 'Born a Muslim'

abcnews.go.com

I never like Franklin Graham. He is completely different from his dad Billy. The fruit falls far far from the tree.

No kidding. As it turns out, he and his brother are feuding where to bury the father when he dies. Sounds like they are pretty unpleasant people.

In any case, Franklin is getting lots of press. I hope it takes him down in the end.

Just got off the phone with one of my overseas friend. He has travelled a lot to the US and is very familiar with this country and it's politics Incidentally, he is a Muslim and we got to talking about the recent issues of Obama being a Muslim and Cordoba House. And I will try my best to quote him: "How dumb can the Americans be to say that Obama is a Muslim and one camp talk about his name to often mention Hussein as his middle name in support of their point. Don't they know that Tariq Aziz is a very very Muslim sounding name and he is a Iraqi Christian?" Blew the top off me. Then he proceeded to say that we need to distinguish between Arabic and Islam.

If I recall correctly, it was you who made a similar point yesterday to ask the thread if Obama is a Osama type Muslim or is he a Muslim like the Sultan of Brunei.

And another point he made which I forgot to include is that in Islam, the father hands down the religion to his sons, which I believe with basically what Rev. Graham Jr. said. So Graham was right.

However, he was curious to know under what rites the parents got married because if she married under the Muslim rites then Obama was a Muslim by birth in its totality. But if she didn't and she didn't accept that Obama was a Muslim from her side of the birth, then it is a open issue.

So now the question is, are the evangelical/Christian right saying that they agree with Islam that the father hands down the religion automatically and that if the mother is a Christian, she does not have any right to the claim that Obama is also a Christian?

I realize it is an intellectual debate and has no bearing on Obama being President. But then the dumb religious right should explain why they accept Traiq Aziz with a Muslim sounding name as a Christian and they insist on the Hussein name as being Muslim to label Obama as Muslim and denying him the right to choose his own religion. If I recall, he has said he changed his name from Barry to Barack so as to have some connection with Africa, his father's birthland. And that is about the least connection he has with his father's side of the birth.

Manalagi

What Franklin said is correct. He was actually commenting on Obamas status as a Christian and why there may be confusion in people thinking that he is a Muslim.

His org "Samaratans Purse does a lot of good around the world.
