My sense is that the tech companies are experiencing good quarters because they have learnt hoe to run their business optimally, get cheap labor from countries like China and India and the hiring they are doing are not from the unemployment lines but fro New College Hires who have lower pay rates and lower health costs.

I don't know of any significant industry in So. Cal except for the entertainment industry and a few streaks of high tech and Biotech (in the Irvine/San Diego belt)


Ports, transportation and warehousing are big in S. CA. LA county has more manu. jobs than any other county in the US.....at least it did ten years ago.
