Andy, I have heard a couple of more post-game scouting reports and they really all sound the same. Henderson is a big team and their biggest assest is their ability to head in corner kicks. Unfortunately, that's probably one of Fox Chapel's weakest areas. Very few goals are scored from the field against Fox Chapel, but they have a tendency of giving up corner kicks or fouling close in, and that's when their opponents score most of the goals. I suspect that Nicole will have to be real aggressive and punch out corner kicks before they are headed. Nicole has reasonable height and she is sturdy and is not afraid of contact, so that will probably be the best strategy on corner kicks. Of course the best strategy will be to not even give up corners, because it sounds like Henderson is very effective at putting the ball on the far post just outside of the six.

Nicole had a similar situation in ODP. It was the PA West ODP team against the Eastern PA ODP team and EPA had a players whose throw ins were just like corner kicks (she could put the ball righ in front of the goal from anything closer than the 30 ard line). After they scored their first header, Nicole became nmore aggressive and picked off the throw ins in mid air PA West was also weak on such balls becasue they were playing up a year and many players were in new positions) . Of course EPA then adjusted and placed their throw ins farther out which made it harder to head it in, but it also made it harder for Nicole to pick off them off.

Rumor has it that the game may actually be played in Harrisburg on Wednesday, so we will just have to wait and see, but the game itself will have a major psycological component. Penn-Trafford thinks we can be Henderson, and so do I, but its a funny game and hard to predict.
I had heard that Norwin had a problem with State College. I knew that they had won 2-0, but I just found out this morning that it was in OT and the first goal was a controversial PK (ball bounced up and hit a State Collegw player's elbow in the box - usually in a 0-0 game in OT, a handball would not be called).

Andy, I saw the tape of the Henderson/Penn-Traffords game and Henderson is definitely beatable. I thought that PT outplayed them for much of the game. They are big and have a good defense, but their offense isn't that strong. All goals were from set plays. If we can score one goal, they will choke. They actually have ESPN following them around, expecting to see a State Championship. If they get behind, they will really begin to scramble. When PT cut the lead to 2-1, Henderson began to play a bit less controlled.

I think it will come down to set plays. If we can shut them down there, Fox Chapel will be in very good shape.
