Jim- thanks for keeping us up on what is happening in the oilsands. I have a friend that thinks that Shell is the secret bidder behind the Geopetrol bid. I can see his reasoning-with the billions that Shell is spending on the oil sands what is another few million to get control of another 58 acres of oilsands that will be very close to their operations.
Maybe they could give Koch a run in the bidding.

Mike

From Shell Canada Article:

Pre-fabricated plant modules will be trucked to the Lease 13 site 70 kilometers north of Fort McMurray in early 1998; test production of up to 100 barrels per day should be underway by April, said Shell oilsand vice-president Neil Camarta.

Sounds like the Bitmin Project. (Disappearing Web Page) Anyone got clue what process they would be using. At a 100 bpd it will take quite a few modules to reach 150,000 bpd.

Another curiosity

Upgrading of the bitumen will be done in facilities in France or the United States, Camarta told Today.
