Craig, I actually prefer military history, though much of it is also political. I am a democrat with a little d, but I don't care to read about the average guy in history all that much. Unless it overlaps. For example, drinking a lot of beer may be why they stopped battle every half an hour for bathroom breaks. <VBG>

"Hide all the cattle in the woods, Francois,
The King is riding this way.
Hide all the women and the goods, Francois,
He's coming to take them away.
Hide if you can
Poor little man
Think of a prayer to say.
Doff your cap as you must
Bow in the dust
Speak loudly as you say:

'God save the king
For he gives us leave to serve him.
His law is just
And we pray that we do deserve them.
It's no small thing
To serve a King.' Tom Paxton

GG,

The problem with political history is that the victors get to write the history and they are biased in some cases and totally full of shit in others.
