I needed the same book, but studied it by myself. China is a succession of dynasties. Each one of them rode a wave.
Once that wave peaked the dinasty went down and along came another, which, in its turn, rode the next wave until 1912 (Qing dinasty bit the dust)ending the Kingdom and China went republican.

Differently from the Persians, (who got Greeks, Romans and Arabs around them) they were surrounded by people not endowed with too much intelligence and this gave them a spurious sense of superiority.

That made them, all the time, turn into themselves, deeming not worthy to: worry, trade, conquer the other people...

It was a mistake. Westerners (well, worse! the Brits (the Americans of the 19th century) came there and took advantage of them.

Today they are doing (Industrial Revolution bypassed them) what other countries did in 300 years.

Good for Brazil that can sell a lot of stuff to them as they have TJ's 300-year pent up demand to be fulfilled.

If you have a chance to go there do so by all means. I went there this year (people was saying they are going to collapse and I wanted to see by myself together with my missus)

Food made China. Because they had soft food (they developed along Yang Tze and Yellow rivers) the Chinese ate food easy to chew.

Eating food easy to chew needs smaller teeth, smaller jaw, less muscles to pull the jaws to smash food.

They developed larger skull which could house a larger brain.
Larger brain means more intelligence.

Compare with the negro eating tougher food.
Having those strong and big teeth, muscular and big jaws.
Less space for brains and the negro was left in disadvantage vis a vis the Chinese.
Whites are somewhere in between.

With bigger brains and being more intelligent the Chinese developed much faster than the rest of the world at that stage.
Later we westerners started outr own agriculture and ended up catching up.

All peoples who had a river giving them soft food developed, first because they had more food, and long term because their soft food cause them to have space for a larger brain.
Mesopotamia (Iraq´s the Tigris and the Euphrates is the cradle of the western civilization) and Egyptians Nile river are cases in point.
