Exactly ! and the Survival event has already happened, GM, AIG and Citibank voted off the island.

At least my contention is that the event/process is mostly over.
Note the General Electric, formerly Edison General Electric, is the only one to stay on the list (well maybe the re-incarnated AT&T / Bell System)

At one time there was a mining company, Inco, International Nickel, in the Dow, then merged with Falconbridge, now part of a Brazilian company.

The other partial mining company. Johns-Manville, disappeared in a cloud of asbestos fibers.
