Jeff: I think where Ian excels is in his picking of a proxy index at the beginning of each leg up to watch for reversal signs. O'Neill mentions this in Chapter 7. Ian is also strong on industry group studies but he only includes groups within certain high growth sectors i.e. technology, retail, medical. He also has an easy to understand buy/sell discipline that applies well to CANSLIM. He produced a grid for classifying CANSLIM candidates. It has 9 categories, the best being 100%+ earnings growth in the past two quarters and EPS rank=minimum 50; lowest is 15%+ earnings growth in the past two quarters, EPS rank=minimum 25. He also utilizes the 50-day & 200-day movings averages to judge extension of stock price for evaluation before buying, and he also utilizes them for his sell strategy.
