No one is saying you can't build mosques in NYC or that this imams present mosque 12 blocks away can't be enlarged or moved to bigger quarters. The issue is something that will overshadow a site where America was attacked on its own soil by coreligionists of the people building this mosque.

It is very like the idea of a shinto shrine next to the Pearl Harbor memorial (and yes, I know there is a shinto shrine in Honolulu but its miles away from the Pearl memorial. Put this mosque a similar distance away and no one would have a problem with it.)

Move the mosque farther away so it won't tower over Ground Zero and there is no problem with it.
