When we justify our presence in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc it is largely in that we support Muslims in those countries in claiming human rights and dignities. How are we making that example for the world to witness in this case? Do we genuinely and effectively support that cause right here at home? That is at least part of the test we have been put under in Manhattan. If we fail that test, and it is a test that is in the hearts and minds of souls world wide, we will fail to help Petraes et all in winning the essential 'hearts and minds' aspects of those operations. There is a win/win scenario available here.
