"It feels like that. This goes beyond tolerance and freedom of religion imo."

We can call it a lot of things, an insult to victims of 911, a platform for radicals, we can also call the removal an unwelcome sign to American Muslims. Think about it, the message is pretty simple, You are not welcome in the neighborhood because of who you are, specifically because of which religion you practice. The bottom line, however is simple, the focus is on America's problem with Islam. That is more than a local issue, it permeates everything America stands for at home and in the world. How do we pass that test Bru? By proving we can remove anti-terror peace loving Muslims from a neighborhood in America?

There is a positive solution and it is not one where anyone needs to feel defeated or imposed upon. The defeat of Rauf et al, if that comes about, will be seen as a failure of America at home and a catastrophic loss of American claims to be promoting principle world wide. Win the battle and lose the war sort of thing.

Muslims DO have civil rights in America, including freedom of religion.

Classic Demohack (alinksy) strategy - they are trying to reframe the argument as one of right's versus insensitivity or even outright dancing on a grave site.

Recall the toppling of Saddams statue and how our boys raised an American flag and quickly replaced it with an Iraqi flag - all in the name of sensitivity and trying to avoid the link to the crusades which happened so long ago by another people while this was just 10 years ago.

If these peace loving muslims had any common sense they'd graciously move this thing themselves.
