And am I aware of the devluation of the $. When I returned back to Switzerland after having lived in the USA for 20 years in 1971 (I left, because I had becom almost blind and could no longer drive a car) I changed my $ for Fr. 4.30. Had I kept them - what a loss. They are worth now Fr. 1.40-1.50. But I think this devaluation should be looked at differently. During the after the war period until 1971 US firms were able to buy foreign firms with their high priced $ cheaply. And they did a lot of buying -- very smart!!Once this buying was over why not drop the $? This was a very shroud trick and it worked. Possible that it was incidental not planned, but who cares it is a fact of live and a terrific windfall for the USA. yours Fred from Switzerland
