I suspect that if another suitable site is offered in the same neighborhood, snd funding is not impacted, they will eventually take it. The Imam can give a nice speech about how it was not his intention to provoke outrage against Muslims and the people who have made a big fuss about it can go home with some satisfaction for their efforts. I wish it hadn't become such a political turn key but that's part of the reality now. "The center at the current location, is IMO defeating its stated purpose of building bridges and achieving more understanding. Some times an even like this raises awareness and once people do a little soul searching, they realize its time to let go of some old grievances but it could go the other way.
