Please read:

features.yahoo.com

During the month of August, why did 3 of the top 4 best selling computers all cost under $1000? These results are based on point of sales data, not comments from the flunkies on the sales floor at Comp USA. What would you expect them to say, the low-cost machines are a better deal? Of course not.

I would tend to believe this report rather that your perception of the retail market based on one trip to the local computer store. Intel may or may not be affected by this, since their chips are selling at that price point too.

However, you can't deny the fact that sub $1k computers are selling very well in the consumer market, and growing fast.

XY thanks for the Barrons summary....i stopped reading that paper some time back for many good reasons...have not missed it ...good to see that they put this putdated news ...hahahaaha...

I too believe that INTEL did a great job of adressing the analysts and informing them of their goals and debunking many of the bears rumours....

Xy...Thanx for the info on the Barron's article, But your right, when I look at the ads in the newspaper, I can't see any selling for under 1000 either, and definitely not with a monitor! IMO our money is in the right place "inside" INTEL....M
