Re: "style beneath you? What argument are you addressing with such comparisons?"

What 'style', Rattler?

Simply observing a TRUE HISTORICAL FACT. No 'style' required.

(And an interesting historical fact too I think: President Obama's and President Reagan's public popularity, measured on exactly the same poll by exactly the same polling organization, the WSJ/NBC polling organization, over the equivalent time period for the two Presidents --- the *first two years* of their first terms --- are STRIKINGLY SIMILAR, with a high degree of correlation. As close to identical as one could expect to see in such things.)

Now, what becomes 'interesting' is the possible reasons WHY that should be so....

If I was asked to guess I would say that it's the ECONOMY.

Both Presidents were facing steep Recessions during these periods of time after they were sworn into office. (And, the Reagan era recession is the only one since the Great Depression that matches the severity of our current recession. This cannot be an accident and I believe it's what accounts for the near match in the poll's trend lines when the polling data for the two Presidents are overlaid.)
