T. Boone's dream is alive and well. And a gradual move towards fueling localized fleets that way will certainly help. And there are passenger cars using natural gas as well. They sell quite a few of them abroad.

And of course nuclear and coal can provide the electricity for pure rechargeable electrics. Over many years.

Perhaps those things are all that were meant by the original post.
