Start me with $100 thanks! And it might be nice to wrap up the contest by the middle of December, that gives a decent season-long contest. It seems to me that trading volume and the quotes get light and flaky second half of December.

I prefer keeping it close to 3 months, one quarter. Which would take us to late November or early December. I would end this round not later than December 17, and start the next round the following Monday, December 20, with no gap in between. Whether the following round starts 12/20 or 12/27, it would give players time to play stocks affected by tax loss selling. We wouldn't have that if the round ends 12/31 and the next one starts January 3 or January 7. nyse.com New Years' Day (January 1) in 2011 falls on a Saturday. The rules of the applicable exchanges state that when a holiday falls on a Saturday, we observe the preceding Friday unless the Friday is the end of a monthly or yearly accounting period. In this case, Friday, December 31, 2010 is the end of both a monthly and yearly accounting period; therefore the exchanges will be open that day and the following Monday.
