John, Both of us are traders (I even Day-trade Options) but have a Long-term view of the stock. I know the stock always comes back to hit New All-time highs whether it takes more than a year or more than a month to do that. That was foremost in my mind when ---in Aug of last year I saw the stock abandoned by almost all the Institutional players at the price of 23 and my investment capital trimmed to 23% --- I decided to switch all my shares to 17-month till expiration LEAPs clinging to the hope that the stock will surpass its All-time high before the LEAPs expire. The stock did not disappoint me 9 months later...Any setback could be turned into Blessing in Disguise if we have the Will to FORCE it to be...

One mistake I kept on repeating is to have little cash left in the depths when I need them the most. Cash is a must in investing in an excitingly volatile stock like AMAT. Two years in a row, we saw AMAT corrected 45 to 63% from its All-time highs; I won't be caught flat-footed next time!...What I'm planning to do is to have Cash for a 7% Dip, Cash for a 10 to 20% Dip, Cash for a 25 to 45% Dip and so on...I hope I can keep that promise...
