* Says plant was closed for a day

* Says property damage and theft of gold ore were minimal

Aug 30 (Reuters) - Canadian gold producer Olympus Pacific Minerals Inc (OYM.TO) said its only gold-producing plant, Bong Mieu, in central Vietnam was reopened on Thursday after a one-day shutdown due to an incident of vandalism and theft.

Property damage and theft of gold ore were minimal, the company said in a statement. Last month, Olympus Pacific, which also owns the Phuoc Son mine in Vietnam, had reported a 12 percent sequential rise in second-quarter production at Bong Mieu.

The company's shares, which have lost about 10 percent in the last three months, closed at 34.5 Canadian cents Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Arnika Thakur in Bangalore; Editing by Maju Samuel)
