I have no doubt that his, "I have a Dream" speech boiled down to looking forward to the day that all men would be judged on the content of their character & not the color of their skin. And that equal opportunity would mean that color, race or creed would have absolutely no bearing on the opportunity for EVERYONE to pursue their lives & make a livelihood. I doubt that this is the essence of what most Americans are taught about it though.
