Maybe not at the top of the list of cost factors but I don't think a fair list would be complete without it. I don't see any added value in it, ergo it's a cost factor. OTOH, this is a list of why costs are rising and I don't see where profits are more of a factor now than they used to be.

I would add Baumol's cost disease
