Hmmm... The TV news made a big deal of pending east coast evacuations, but the only one actually announced was a mandatory evacuation for tourists on Okracoke Island. Everyone else can stay if they wish. Gee, save the tourists but the residents can drown if they so choose... I guess it's an east coast money thing, tourists having and spending money, but not so residents... Now that I think about it, works for me...

I wonder why VA or SC or DE or MD or NJ or NY isn't as concerned as NC... It can't be just the local terrain where the barrier islands of NC stick way out into the ocean. Earl is big enough to carry heavy rain, strong winds and flooding tides into all those states, even if the eye remains well offshore.

If I were up there, I'd remember all those folks that decided to stick it out on Galveston Island when Ike was approaching. I don't think any of them would do it again, given a choice.

EK!!!
