I agree. That would be the more appropriate position.

<<I have no idea who the hero in waiting will be for the POTUS job in 2012 but they need to be perceived as decisive .... not divisive.>>

I have no interest in the Rodney King way of "Can't we all just get along".

I have no interest is compromising to Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Schumer et al.

Big media will attempt to demonize any republican candidate. The more they succeed in this the more they will call that candidate "divisive".

Pat, If she is truly divisive, then taking over the RNC in place of Steele would not bring the GOP together. This thread and the the past year's posting here have demonstrated that to me.

In terms of being decisive, she certainly has shown her willingness to tackle tough issues and opponents. She did it in Alaska and has not shied from controversy in the lower forty eight. Many did not like her recent support of McCain, including me.

In so far as, "can't we all get along", goes. That ship sailed long ago. The liberal element which controls the democrats is not about to compromise. They will talk about it if they lose this Fall, but we can forget about any big conciliatory moves on their part.

The liberals(dems) and the conservatives(reps) have established political positions important to them. The liberals tactic has been to cow the conservatives with their bigot, phobic accusations. It has worked more than a few times especially with the RINO side of the GOP.

Some on the thread argue she is too religious. I guess the inverse of that is Obama, who has hardly been in a DC church.

Abortion is a closed issue. It will not overturned. It is a fund raiser for charities and churches.

While I agree it would be nice to have a WH and a Congress who regularly worked together and that both sides truly gave a little. However, that is well outside the thinking of Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Kerry, Leahy, Boxer, Waxman and many others.

Statistics tell us that there are more conservatives than liberals in America. I am hopeful.

Liz Cheney is back stage but building her presence. She is smart, decisive, articulate, and pragmatically sees the world as it actually is.
