I only recently learned that Rumpole's portrayer, the late Leo McKern, was an Aussie. He moved to the UK to be with his (future) wife. Ain't love grand ?

I also enjoyed McKern as Number 2 in Patrick McGoohan's incredibly weird The Prisoner series.
