Sounds like the ILWU (the longshoreman). A couple years ago, I watched over 200 ships sit in the L.A. Long Beach harbor while a contract was worked out. My across the street neighbors, who have since sold their home for 1.5m, were each bringing over 200k per year (with some o.t.)before the contract. This husband wife team were clerks. Their job was to travel the docks in their golf carts and record cannister numbers to ensure they agreed with their clipboard. Join a union, just make sure it is a strong one.
