Laptop is an older term from when they were briefcase-sized. Savvy marketing types will only refer to them as notebooks. They're the same thing.

Make no mistake, in the small rechargeable batteries market, cell phones & notebooks each take about 42% of production of Li-ion. The rest is fragmented among lots of very small categories. Digital cameras, MiniDisk players, camcorders - these are tiny categories comparatively. Anyone making batteries is chasing those 2 big categories.
