" under-performing monopolies" and "demonizing legitimate attempts to bypass monopolist's end-user and taxpayer-subsidized obstruction", don't even amount to "disembodied arguments", they are mere assertions.

And as far as they are taxpayer-subsidized, the easy way to deal with that is stop subsidizing them. The idea that since government interferes in one way (by providing subsidies) it absolutely must interfere in some other way to hurt those it does subsidize is bizarre. If the subsidies are warranted (which is unlikely) than they shouldn't be countered. If they aren't, they should be eliminated.
