What happened in 1970? US oil production peaks It's amazing that the R's, supposedly so good at business don't get this. To be prosperous, you maximize the value of your most abundant resources. That used to be oil in the US. Now it's technology. So you change the scheme to make your resource more valuable. Or we continue to send wealth to other countries, as they have sent their wealth to us in the past. If the new scheme is a little more expensive, and we are a net exporter, all the better.
