Nice list, Tom C.

I make these comments:

I hold TEG. Again - for me, for what I want or don't want - I'm disinclined to buy or add to positions when these things are at 12 mo highs.

I don't know VVC. I scanned quickly now; I guess I'll skip unless someone here has positives to say about co.

Spotted DUK on the list. Once again I look and pass. I like the div yield and fact that there's not much volatility to the stock. OTOH, growth on book value stinks, as does roe.

Yeah, PPL. Losing my mind or parts of it these days (daze) being a geezer. Cripes. I reduced my position this week, and now I can't remember why. I did have a reason (I assume) Scary.
Been considering adding back shares last couple of days. While book value has grown a bit over time, roe has fallen. Perhaps it's a function of co's trying to integrate PPL's April acquisition of Kentucky Utilities. Anyway, the stock fits in my utility style box---> I get a yield over 5% and the stock's selling closer to lows than highs. Stock goes ex on Wed (says Yahoo), and I'm considering buying on Tues.
---------------
If you're willing to go outside USA, you could look at ELONGY.pk and/or CPL. I have shares in these utilities. Also a few more foreign ones, e.g. ENLAY.pk

All jmo, and I've been wrong many, many times.

Taking your list, I'm adding ROE, the payout ratio and CAGR. One of the criteria for income investing is to find a high yield with an acceptable dividend growth rate. Dividend growth rate is vital if one wants to stay ahead of inflation.

SCG - 4.70%, 9 yrs. ROE 10.54% .. 5 yr P/O 62% .. 5yr CAGR 4.61%
EXC - 5.00%, 3 yrs. ROE 19.98% .. 5yr P/O 66% .. 5yr CAGR 5.71%
CEG - 3.10%, 0 yrs. ROE 76.84% (numbers don't compute)
CNP - 5.10%, 4 yrs. ROE 15.63% .. 5yr P/O 61% .. 5yr CAGR 10.76%
*PGN - 5.70%, 10 yrs. ROE 8.89% .. 5yr P/O 87% .. 5yr CAGR 1.13%
SO - 4.90%, 8 yrs. ROE 13.94% .. 5yr P/O 74% .. 5yr CAGR 4.10%
D - 4.20%, 6 yrs. ROE 22.98% .. 5yr P/O 77% .. 5yr CAGR 6.30%
*NST - 4.20%, 10 yrs. ROE 13.97% .. 5yr P/O 59% .. 5yr CAGR 6.54%
*MDU - 3.20%, 19 yrs. ROE 10.16% .. **P/O 45% .. 5yr CAGR 5.53%
DUK - 5.70%, 2 yrs. ROE 3.15% .. 5yr P/O 107% .. 5yr CAGR 8.95%

Aristocrats:
ED - 4.90%, 35 yrs. ROE 9.41% .. 5yr P/O 68% .. 5yr CAGR 0.86%
STR - 3.30%, 30 yrs. ROE 18.05% .. 5 yr P/O 16% .. 5yr CAGR 15.58%
TEG - 5.50%, 51 yrs. ROE 6.94% .. **P/O 105% .. 5yr CAGR 4.30%

Champions:

BKH - 4.60%, 38 yrs. ROE 4.75% .. **P/O 107% .. 5yr CAGR 4.20%
EGN - 1.10%, 27 yrs. ROE 13.32% .. 5yr P/O 12% .. 5yr CAGR 5.40%
MGEE - 4.00%, 34 yrs. ROE 10.36% .. 5yr P/O 65% .. 5yr CAGR 1.56%
NFG - 3.10%, 38 yrs. ROE 12.71% .. 5yr P/O 55% .. 5yr CAGR 3.62%
NWN - 3.60%, 54 yrs. ROE 11.15% .. 5yr P/O 55% .. 5yr CAGR 5.02%
PNY - 4.00%, 30 yrs. ROE 15.03% .. 5yr P/O 65% .. 5yr CAGR 4.33%
VVC - 5.60%, 34 yrs. ROE 9.94% .. 5yr P/O 77% .. 5yr CAGR 2.88%
WGL - 4.30%, 33 yrs. ROE 10.75% .. 5yr P/O 193% .. 5yr CAGR 2.53% (must be an MLP with that payout ratio!)

Other Achievers:

NU - 3.50%, 10 yrs. ROE 8.59% .. **P/O 57% .. 5yr CAGR 8.75%
PPL - 5.10%, 10 yrs. ROE 7.71% .. 5yr P/O 60% .. 5yr CAGR 9.99%
UGI - 3.70%, 17 yrs. ROE 14.96% .. 5yr P/O 37% .. 5yr CAGR 5.94%
ATO - 4.60%, 19 yrs. ROE 8.36% .. 5yr P/O 75% .. 5yr CAGR 1.56%

I noticed PPL had a payout ratio this year of 101%. That will need further investigation. I listed 5 year payout ratios ans 5 year compounded annual growth rates for reference. For my needs, I will check to be sure those rates are consistent in different time frames. PPL and CEG are good examples.
