There's time to close that. as has been mentioned, wasn't Obama supposed to be washed up in the summer of '08? I rather like that Jerry Brown put off starting his campaign until Labor Day, that's refreshingly old-fashioned and gives our poor heads a break.

I think the repub gov-runner here might be the only repub in the country who is talking simply and about practical matters to move his state forward. that's an opening for dems around the country if they get down to the practical. I don't think it helps with young people to be seen as waffling on American rights, be it the Islamic center or gay rights or our treatment of immigrants (and by extention people of color), young people care about those things and it spurs them, imo. when even the 18-29 group in Alabama supports gay marriage, not just thinks gays should exist, but Marriage, to the 35% degree... a sea change is happening.

but are we going to invest in the future? the talk about not saddling the young with debt has another side. seems to me a lot of older people don't want to pay taxes that would be the foundation of building things for the future of our children. it's not punishing anyone, it's about being in it together to build ourselves into the 21st century, for them.

Some days I think I have to pick a place in Louisiana cause of this...

youtube.com

I know I know. but can't a person pick 'the spot' on the basis of a song? well, and what it respresents.

Building up Louisiana is complicated by the need to save the wetlands and rebuild its coast. not like to bring in masses to make it worse. But from Lafayette, there is plenty of room out from there for fancy types to build. And New Orleans is in range, ala SF to silicon valley. but you not right there to get hurricaned.

and it has a cool name. Lafayette. how frenchy. Houston and Austin are rather easy access, and those are booming places.

gettin' itchy to get on the road and really see this stuff. must finish getting that new floor down.
