A.J.,

Your PC has a rechargeable lithium battery. Your PC configuration will not be lost unless you don't turn on your PC for several months. The memory is CMOS Ram which uses very little power. Your configuration data is probably a few dozen bytes at the most.

I went to a car show yesterday. A company sells a TV/CD/Radio/VCR stereo system that fits in where your existing radio is, for $3500. Next month, it will add a GPS system for another $1000. You can locate yourself anywhere in the US within a 3 ft radius. Talking about high tech toys, I wish I am rich.

Your Saab probably still uses some kind of mechanical storage for the mileage and the car computer just reads it and displays on the LCD. But may be I am wrong. It may use a flash, or several flashes for redundancy.

I know I can run out of storage in a 10MB MMC in my cell phone very quickly if some news service downloads stock news and price for me.
