Charles; I suspect you are right, there are hidden and illegal shorts within dealer accounts via the margin signature. I am not sure how they do this. However if I bought some shares I would ask for the actual certificates and take them home/vault. If we all did that shorty would be deep in trouble, as from what you say a 30+% short position would drive it up smartly if the borrowed stock was taken out of play.

Some institutions put 1-3% in assorted high risk/high gain plays, and IPM and Naxos fit with that. They win some lose some, but that is how the run that fund, a high risk fund.

We need a comment by someone who knows shorting uo and down here to establish what can and cannot be done.
