I had a summer job at the Field Museum in 1968. On the night of the riots in Grant Park, the National Guard set up their headquarters on the roof of the Museum. For some reason they let me wander onto the roof. As I watched the protesters charge the police line I heard the Guard Commander say, "Holy Shit!" Care to take a guess who I was rooting for?

Earlier that year I almost got caught on the West Side when the city went up in flames after Martin Luther King was assassinated. It was an interesting year to be living in Chicago.
