Look how we address global warming which could lead to a Permian type extinction. So I see the human species attempt to manifest into fully civilized humans as being like I see the survival rate of baby fishes trying to grow up. Very few make it, but it is their manifest destiny-lol. I figure sentient beings evolve in the universe all the time and most do not make it through this technological period, i.e. when they get the technological ability to destroy themselves like we have now. We live according to primitive cultural ideas and emotions, yet have to deal with modern technology that can destroy the world. E.g. in much of Pakistan fathers will still kill their daugher if she has sex outside of marriage or her tribe. And pakistan has nuclear weapons which could fall into peoples hands who still follow 13th century Sharia law.
