Burn a Quran, hate crime.. ......................................................... It has become painfully obvious that Eric Holder and the Obama administration are horribly biased and disgustingly hypocritical. Opponents of the “Ground Zero Mosque” claimed that they did not dispute the right of Imam Rauf and others to build the Mosque but they questioned the “appropriateness” of doing it. Opponents were promptly labeled racists and Islamaphobes by the administration and the press. Fast forward. Now a church wants to burn a copy of the Quran and Eric Holder is calling the plan idiotic and hinting at hate crime prosecution. Critics are saying they understand that the church has the right to do it but they question the “appropriateness” of doing it. Wait, What? By the administrations logic they have have just declared themselves racist phobics. They are in fact using the same argument they decried and maligned. Worse than that they have injected themselves into the fray. They are applying pressure in an attempt to sway the church to change its mind. Where was the outcry by the government over the Mosque? Where was the pressure from Holder and Axelrod to change Imam Rauf’s mind? Excerpts from MSNBC: MIAMI — The government is turning up the pressure on the head of a small Florida church who plans to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11, with Attorney General Eric Holder calling the idea “idiotic and dangerous.” The White House has joined the opposition, with presidential adviser David Axelrod telling NBC’s TODAY show on Wednesday that the pastor’s threat offended U.S. values and constituted a threat to American security. Really? When did this administration begin caring about U.S. values? What right does this administration have to censure speech that is obviously protected under the constitution? If it were not so wouldn’t art exhibits that feature a cross in urine or the Virgin Mary painted in dung raise the ire of our administration? He said the issue wasn’t whether the pastor had a right to burn the Qurans, but whether it was the right thing to do — and Alexrod said the plan was “wrong in so many dimensions.” Isn’t this the same argument that opponents of the mosque used ? It is and they were labeled racist for their efforts. Holder also told the group no one should have to live and pray in fear and that he planned to address the issue publicly soon, the meeting participants said. He also reiterated a commitment to aggressively prosecute hate crimes, they said. Were they ardently speaking out against flag burning? Wouldn’t such an act make Americans live in fear? We are expected to believe that the burning of the Quran would constitute a hate crime but that similar acts involving the Bible are free speech? This is ludicrous. This administration has lost all credibility on the issue. Whether or not you agree with this pastor, and I do not, he has a right to do this. The government has no right to bring pressure against this church or its members simply because the disagree with their choice. They have been silent on every other form of desecration until now and they should stay the course; remaining silent.silentmajority09.com
