Post war reconstruction period is where we are in Iraq and Afghanistan.... (as reconstruction/occupation periods in Japan/Germany/Korea....) Or you could possibly compare the conditions to those that prevailed during the Vietnam War. Regardless though, all have one commonality: the need to gain the support of the locals to secure our victories. Even more true in asymmetrical warfare.
