Ian,

I agree and think it is very important to remember that giving LDCs access to our markets is critical to raising their standard of living, which also raises their aggregate demand for our exports. This in a nutshell is why I think free trade is vital for all.

Have you heard anything about the timing of the Fast-Track vote, or have I missed it?

Wow, excellent posts! I liked this:

<Surely, it is helpful to share some of our resources and wealth with these LDCs through freer and fairer trade as well as other means. Any study I've seen indicates that each party to the agreement receives a net benefit - i.e. a bigger pie shared by all.>

This is what I gave Ross Perot credit for...pointing out what was going on and letting the voters decide. He was nationalistic and anti-freetrade and not afraid to say it. The other "free traders" however werent quite as candid as you about what free trade is...preferring instead to just blanket it with "it is good for everyone"... An obvious "untruth"
