The most unbelievable time I ever saw this done was out on the Los Gatos Creek walking trail in Campbell/Los Gatos. I used to race walk this trail from Campbell to Vasona Dam in Los Gatos several times a week. And almost every time I would get close to my starting point, I'd pass this obviously muslim couple (either coming or going) who it seemed didn't walk far, but walked regularly a short distance. She was ALWAYS 2 or 3 steps behind him and dressed with her entire body covered up (but not her head). I used to speculate about what they thought of me when I went "strutting" (like race-walkers do) by dressed in my tight walking shorts and tee-shirt. I knew it wasn't purty because neither EVER smiled and his look reminded me of when I was a child and my father caught me with my hand in a the cookie jar. And she just looked down at the ground -- probably afraid I'd contaminate her. LOL!!! .
