We, however, are not in Dallas. An engineer with 8+ years of experience in the Valley, is earning > 100K. Typical couples now draw $150-250K or more. Every day, a new company goes public, and another handfull of millionaires are made (and even more make$50-100K or more ofo of IPO's). I have lived here for nine years. During the "recession" home prices dropped about 10-15%. Now they are moving up strongly. I have lived in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia. The real estate markets in these areas are very different animals from SJ.

SJ is the technology capitol of the world. While I do not rule out the possibility of 1/2 real estate values out here, it would only happen in the midst of a global economic meltdown . In such a case, housing costs would be the least of my concerns.
