Your arguement makes no sense....because pretty soon....there is no American consumer left. How do you think anyone here will be able to consume anything with no job and no money?
Further, in about 20 years, when there is no oil available anywhere at any price....and we have no way of manufacturing anything....you'll crap your pants.
A lot of what you're saying they said in 1929 also.
The problems began in the early 90's with free trade agreements....they told us....it was great for America. BS.
Why should we send all of our money (what's left of it) to China and opec?
We can't compete with slave labor. There is no choice anymore in what we buy....they took the choice away and financially raped us....not one TV is made in America? So, where did you buy your TV from? Do you even care? How about your clothing? How about your computer?
If you think this empire decline is so great....carry on....but you can't blame the consumer.
The elites did it all to line their GREEDY pockets. They do not care about America or Americans, IMO. They would steal their grand-mother's last dollar.
See any patriots around?

We exported our technology along with our jobs.
That technology afforded us higher wages domestically.
It's gone. 4 years of college then learn to bartend within the ever growing service sector.

VP, you are correct. it isn't just the rich - it is that *all* humans are selfish by their very nature and the elites just happen to be strong enough to be able to express their selfishness in a way that is harmful to others.

on my end, i try to buy local and doing the farmer's market thing. i'm buying less and less corporate food.

having said that, though, it is the elites that have gamed the system and are screwing society blind and we have to stand up to them or their tyranny will continue to progress.
