Not only is the ad old but the issue is also a very old issue. When Brown was Governor, he supported and was supported by the unions. This time he has come out against the unions from the get go. His reason: we all have to tighten our belts during such economic times. He has an ad out calling on the unions to demonstrate austerity. Whitman has blasted the air waves with negative ads in the SF Bay area (the bastion of liberalism and where even the Republicans are center leaning). Unfortunately for her, these have had no effect so far.
