Just to keep things in perspective ...
Germany did pay hefty war reparations:

Germany also paid for the US troops which were stationed in Germany after the war.
This is not meant to excuse Nazi Germany actions. It's just meant to keep the record straight.
I happened to fall into the generation which dearly paid for the mistakes my generation had nothing to do with.
