Roger, I agree that Datek's customer service sucks.

Their saving grace is that I have seldom needed it.

I was particularly impressed with their response to recent increased market volume. I don't know anyone else who responded in the appropriate manner - quickly bringing in additional servers (which will be permanent). I suspect that their competition is still studying the situation. Datek is still, in many ways, a seat-of-the-pants technical operations, but with that comes this kind of flexibility.

My guess is Peter said "we need more servers, now!", Jon said "do it", and that was that. E-Trade and Schwab probably have committees that are planning on getting on it in just a few short weeks.

I was happy to find the phone being answered promptly on Friday when I called several times to ask dumb questions about my IRA transfer. It looks like they have added phone personnel.

Roger et al: I am doing the free trial on datek and am very unlikely to leave lombard/discover for them.
