The Koch brothers are a power behind the Tea Party faction of the Republican party. That wields a lot of influence. Wall Street has a huge amount of control over our legislative process. Lobbyists, who were actually writing legislation under Bush, are not funded by the poor.

Really, the list is extremely long. Unions are the only voice that the middle class has, and they are more focused on their individual needs.
