Not really - the guy is a one man promoter of his "the end is nigh" beliefs. So you claim this one guy knowns more than the tens of thousands of people actually in the industry and he has all the facts - too hard to believe even for a simple minded soul such as yourself.

In the end it's about economics and when it's viable we will switch - or we'll get a leader who actually understands that nuclear is the immediate solution and just kick that process into high gear - we already get 20% of our energy from nuclear - let's make that 50% or more and everyones goals will be met - cheap, affordable, clean energy.

Have any idea why Odumbo promotes nuclear power and then defunds yucca mtn?

lots of what I would call half-truths in that link.

bottomline - there is about 325 years worth of coal reserves in the U.S. That is using estimates based on older technologies (and current demand). As that site suggests, there are technologies being deployed now that allow for the recovery of a higher percentage of the reserves....and of the higher quality bituminous coals.

In the US, there is no shortage of coal. Other locations do have issues though. China has to be thinking of alternatives since they are burning it at twice the rate that we are and they have a third of the reserves.

economically speaking, coal is our trump card when it comes to the world economy. If we are smart about it and don't commit financial suicide by shutting down the coal industry, we will dominate the world economies by virtue of the fact that we will have the the cheapest most abundant source of power.
