I'm not faulting your sentiment (..nor trying to be Politically Correct - for God's sake..), but I think "..understanding / compassion.." might be better words than pity. A lot of the challenged do real well when given an educational or physically environmental leg-up, and they truly sense and don't want pity. Reminds me of an engineering assignment in Topeka where one of my sailing buddies had a son with motor difficulties and some retardation. My boy and the other kids just played with Scotty like he was 100% - and, he'd chug along 'full-tilt-boogie' right with or behind them; leg braces and all........ Reminiscent of Forest Gump. .
