The country wasn't on the edge of the precipice when Buckley make his rule.

Here's the Limbaugh Rule: In an election year when voters are fed up with liberalism and socialism, when voters are clearly frightened of where the hell the country is headed, vote for the most conservative Republican in the primary, period.

In a normal election cycle the Buckley rule takes presidence but this is no where near a normal election cycle... This could be a real sea change... Has anyone ever seen conditions so ripe for a conservative ascendancy?

If the GOP is tripping over it's feet supporting the proper candidates for Senator are they going to pull the same thing in 2012?

What good does majority status do us when some of them are democrats in disguise?

Among other things, the Limbaugh Rule does not take account of the advantages of majority status in the Senate.

This has to be the Republican elite's worst nightmare. Limbaugh has completely left the Republican reservation. He is now officially a loose cannon.

Just now he was saying a 51 vote majority in the Senate makes no difference to what kind of bills get passed. Even strongly implied it would be better NOT to get the majority this year because RINOs would vote with the democrats and Obama could claim bi-partisan support for his agenda.

He did warn them. Been a couple of years since he said he was through "carrying the party's water".
