During the Bush Administration the Taliban were addressed in Afghanistan and defeated. It was done in relatively short order and the war was over. There was some mop up to do in the out lying areas but there was also a new Government considered capable of taking care of it's own business, with some minimal support from the US. That began to unravel before Bush left office and has now become an increasing concern.

Very little of what you say is true. During the Bush administration, the Afghan gov't became increasingly corrupted and couldn't fight its way out of a paper bag. The Taliban never were defeated. They just withdrew to the mts. The only thing true in your statement is that Bush wasn't paying attention.

The Bush Administration was more focused on Iraq, which has been an unprecedented success, not a Garden of Eden of course but certainly it is has gone far better than Bush's critics prophesied.

Unprecedented success? Lord....please do some reading on the subject. What is true is that its stable enough for us to get our butts out of there.
