I've seen far too many interviews and commentary appearances with what I considered unimpressive performances when the questions got specific, tough and pointed (sometimes from interviewers trying desperately to give her the benefit of the doubt). I'm sure it will bring the wrath of many down on me - but at times I've come to see the right's worship of all things Palin to be not so different than that of the current chosen one's flock. I didn't buy Obama's schtick - and I'm really not a fan of hers either. I think she's smart, she's personable and is a great fundraiser. (Funny .. even those sound like Obama traits.) But, by no means, do I think she's the BEST we have to offer. And for a change, I'd really like to see a little more of the BEST and not just the most popular. Class President this isn't. Maybe I'll have to settle in the end, but I'll be damned if I'm going to do it this early in the game. And, with a Palin/Clinton matchup, I'm not even so sure that I wouldn't "settle" for Clinton. And, I know it's coming, but for those tempted to reply that we (Republican/Independent) Palin dissenters don't like her community college education, or her backwoods life or her down home accent or her hunts for dinner, her feminine guile or communion with the common folk. Save it. That's bullcrap - and I couldn't care less about those things. To even throw it out smacks of Obama's camp calling everyone that doesn't fall in line with him a racist. I think someone like a Chris Christie (who also has a homey air and doesn't strike me as typical Ivy League) could mop the floor with Palin - and that alone tells me that Palin isn't good enough (for me). It's just my opinion - but I don't think she's the best, I don't think she's the brightest - and it was just another straw on the camel's back that she flew in on her high horse claiming "to know" and share some common bond with the people of NH when, in reality, she's just another hack that supports the tea partiers when it's in her best interest and the establishment when it's not. Wow .. that's refreshing. (NOT!) She didn't know squat about the candidates. It wasn't any secret that she was flown in at the last minute to perform CPR when Kelly showed signs of flailing. And when someone, who purports to represent the grass-roots 'regular folk' as part of her claim to fame, does that in an attempt to manipulate my local election for their own national gain - you bet it makes me mad. Has it been done before and will it be done again?? You betcha! And I won't like it then either. .
