Ernie, you wroteCan anyone tell me how the big demo went on monday 10/27? Thanks, Ernie ah Yes the Demo, well here is the release; Franklin's Voice-Over-IP Tempest Well Received on Wall Street and at CT Show Westlake Village, CA.> Franklin Telecom, on Monday, October 27th demonstrated, for the first time, the Tempestr Data Voice Gateway in New York City's City Midday Club with a back drop on the North of the Citibank Building and to the South, the sun setting over the Statute of Liberty. Franklin held the demonstration of their voice-over-IP technology and announced plans to roll out a private network utilizing the Tempest Gateways. FNet Corp, a Franklin Telecom subsidiary, will operate and manage the world-wide network. This announcement is part of a multiple phase plan to take FNet Corp public in 1998. With more than 150 Franklin Telecom stockholders and investment bankers in attendance (despite the day's historic first ever, early close of the New York Stock Exchange) CEO Frank Peters explained the network rollout plans and fielded audience questions. CFO Tom Russell and VP of Sales Peter Thornton addressed financial and sales strategies. Franklin's software engineer for the Tempest, Bill Hamlin, answered technical questions. Each attendee was given the opportunity to hear the quality of the service in private demonstrations. Included in this group were technical and business writers from Teleconnect and CTI magazines. All of the demonstrations went flawlessly; in fact, participants were so appreciative of the quality and ease with which the Tempest performed that the demonstrations were extended to allow additional calls. Attendees also received FNet Calling Cards to allow them to demonstrate voice quality after the event. Dana Topping, president of Intrine was also introduced. Mr. Topping, representing the company placing the first Tempest order for $2.5 million, expressed his enthusiasm for being a part of the FNet Network. Several follow up meetings were scheduled with funding sources and potential new customers. In Orlando, a few days later, Franklin Telecom's Tempest Data Voice Gateway attracted rave reviews at the just concluded CT Demo 97 in Orlando, Florida. Sponsored by Computer Telephony Magazine, 120 companies were hand-picked to demonstrate products using the very latest CT technologies. Franklin's Tempest more than held its own in direct competition with Vocaltec, Intertel, Net Speak and others. Many of the 1300 attendees who tested the Tempest commented upon its superior quality. Harry Newton, publisher of Computer Telephony Magazine, stopped by for a Tempest demonstration and called his wife. Harry had this to say about the Tempest, "It's a true miracle. For years my wife has been the unwilling recipient of every bad experiment in internet telephony. This time, for the first time ever, she didn't complain. I used the Franklin Tempest to call her 3000 miles over the Internet through Los Angeles to New York City. Amazing! No complaints, no bitching, great quality. Thanks!" VP of Marketing Sparrow Marcioni stated that, "This was a perfect opportunity to generate sales and evaluate the size of our market. Three out of every five attendees who experienced a Tempest demonstration stated that they had an interest in purchasing the product and one in five had immediate applications." National Accounts Manager Neil Wyenn who will oversee the follow up with the attendees after the show said, "Every demonstration was a complete success for the Tempest and for the user. We had attendees and exhibitors using the Tempest to call their voicemail, wives, mothers, home or office. What better way to test voice quality and clarity than to talk to someone you know? Our confidence in the Tempest paid off with every demo ending with an emphatic approval of the quality!"
